Upon completion of the current Public Libraries and the Internet study, the Institute will seek additional funds to continue the Public Libraries and the Internet study series. Future studies will move beyond Internet connectivity and explore services that public libraries provide through their connections and public access computing infrastructure. In addition, the studies will seek data that informs policy makers, researchers, the library profession, and others interested in public library technology issues regarding the impacts of Internet connectivity and public access computing on the communities libraries serve, advocacy for supporting library public access computing and Internet services and resources, libraries as agents of e-government, and other topics that identify the roles that public libraries play as community technology centers within the communities that they serve.
