Access to reliable, cost-efficient, and high-speed Broadband internet service is an increasingly crucial component of nearly all industries. However, Broadband internet access in rural areas is especially cost-prohibitive and faces additional barriers to its deployment and use, such as lack of support and awareness of the educational and economic benefits as well as inefficient or ineffective policy-making at multiple levels. The Institute provides research services to investigate the economic and educational impacts of the deployment and use of Broadband and associated internet technologies, particularly in rural areas, such as:
- Benchmarking and needs assessments of Broadband and internet technologies;
- Educational and economic impact and return on investment studies; and
- Environmental scanning, policy, and stakeholder analyses.
