Increasingly there are significant pressures on those operating statewide database systems to justify the costs and benefits of these systems to fundors; better understand who or what organizations are accessing which services and resources available from the statewide system; improve the quality of the statistics and other information describing the system; and provide better granularity of the data that describes these uses and users to different stakeholder groups interested in the performance and cost of the system.
The Information Institute's current research and development effort to address these issues, as well as the objectives outlined above, can assist statewide database systems to better meet user needs in a more cost effective manner - and provide system decision makers with better information to improve the overall performance of the statewide system.
