"Public access computing and Internet Access in public libraries: The role of public libraries in e-government and emergency situations"

The article, entitled "Public access computing and Internet Access in public libraries: The role of public libraries in e-government and emergency situations," presents findings from the 2006 Public Libraries and the Internet study funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the American Library Association. This article focuses on the importance of public library Internet access in times of emergencies and for a range of electronic government (e–government) services at the individual and community–wide levels. It was authored by John Carlo Bertot, the Associate Director of the Institute, Paul T. Jaeger, the Manager for Research Development of the Institute, Lesley A. Langa, the Research Associate of the Institute, and Charles R. McClure, the Director of the Institute.
