Summary

John Brobst has been an Information Institute staff member since December 2007. During that time, he has performed project research related to information policy, electronic government, and library service roles. Several of his research efforts have focused on issues and trends that currently impact our nation’s libraries. These efforts include enhancing organizational collaboration and communication through the use of websites and web based technologies.

Prior to joining the Information Institute, Mr. Brobst was employed in the federal government sector, bringing over 20 years of experience in the areas of information technology and project management. He has led diverse information technology projects that include international web site developments; large contract evaluations; and has served as government lead on major contractor outsourced projects. He has implemented innovative initiatives in technology management that have included international design and developments, international outsourcing efforts, new federal policy developments, and served on initial steering committees to address strategic threat simulation efforts. He has extensive experience in directing large IT projects in a complex business environment.

In 2007, Mr. Brobst began pursuing doctoral studies at the Florida State University’s College of Communication & Information. His areas of interest include federal information policy and the impact of technology on society. Mr. Brobst holds the following degrees: MS (Syracuse University; Information Management), MBA (Kent State University; Finance), and a BS (Kent State University; Math).
