Committee on Legislation (COL) Announces E-Government Services Ad hoc Subcommittee

American Library Association’s (ALA) Committee on Legislation is proud to announce the members of its new E-Government Services Ad hoc Subcommittee. Since this issue affects many different aspects of librarianship, COL wanted to form a group comprised of members from different divisions. After sending out a call to all divisions, we are thrilled to announced the names of those participating!

Co-chairs:

  • Patricia Ball
  • Molly Fogarty

Members:

  • John Bertot
  • Karen D. Darling
  • Danny Hales
  • Kit Keller
  • Wally Koehler
  • Nancy Kranich
  • Debbie Malone
  • Bill Sleeman
  • Barbara Webb

In order to get a jump start on this work, the E-Government Services Wiki has been created for everyone interested in participating. The wiki will allow the continuation of work that was begun at the 2008 Midwinter Meeting, centering around the three questions:

  • What is E-Government?
  • What are E-Government Services?
  • What role do libraries play in E-Government?

To develop policy recommendations, legislative proposals and other strategies for the ALA Committee on Legislation related to the role of libraries and the delivery of E-Government services to the American public. The subcommittee shall seek involvement from the broadest range of interested units within ALA and promote collaboration to determine and meet the needs for policy, training, research, legislation and other activities related to libraries and E-Government services.
