Information Institute Staff Are Editors and Authors in New Book

Libraries Unlimited has published the book, Public Libraries and the Internet: Roles, Perspectives, and Implications (available in November 2010). Dr. Charles R. McClure, Information Institute Director, is one of the editors of the book, as well as being a co-author of three of the book chapters. Current Institute staff members Lauren H. Mandel, Research Coordinator, and John Brobst, Research Associate, co-authored a number of chapters in the book along with former Institute staff members John T. Snead (currently at the University of Oklahoma), Bradley Wade Bishop (currently at the University of Kentucky) and Charles C. Hinnant (currently at Florida State University).

The chapters written by Institute staff members report on research completed at the Information Institute on describing roles of public libraries in hurricane preparedness and response, assessing Florida public library broadband, and identifying and discussing future issues that affect the long term health and development of public libraries in the United States. McClure commented that this book offers an up-to-date and wide-ranging discussion of the transformation public libraries are living as a result of the Internet.
